Coca Cola Bullies Small NZ Cafe Into Submission

Good to see that a small cafe in Wellington NZ, opened only 4 months ago by two young and hardworking self starters is such a threat. Their name, ‘innocent”, is, we are told, going to impact heavily on a UK juice brand owned by the soft drinks manufacturer.

 

It must be a soul destroying job managing TM for the Coca Cola company.

 

Three cheers for corporate bullying! No wonder New Zealand has just voted in a new PM who says that capitalism isn’t working.

A Wellington cafe thought its name was fairly innocent when it opened four months ago, but now it’s on the hunt for a new identity after becoming embroiled in a trademark battle with Coca-Cola.

Vegan-friendly cafe Innocent Foods, on Willis St, produces cold-pressed juice under the same name, leading to a stoush with the global beverage giant, which owns the trademark for a United Kingdom-based smoothie and juice brand called Innocent.

Innocent Foods co-owner Claire Rientjes, 21, and her partner Egemen Yeter, 25, sunk their savings into opening the small organic eatery four months ago.
