Another rock n roll trademark cease and desist this week, this time Rage Against the Machine vs Nigel Farage chief Brexiteer and major money earner at the European parliament whose podcast ‘Nigel Farage Against the Machine’ has understandably annoyed the band.
The New Musical Express in the UK reports..
The band sent the former politician a cease-and-desist letter that accuses Farage of ‘unlawfully exploiting’ the band’s name and logo without their prior knowledge or consent.
According to Pitchfork, the cease and desist reads: “As you should know, RATM has publicly denounced the type of right-wing ideology you espouse for decades. Your anti-immigrant rhetoric, lack of social compassion and barely disguised racism and xenophobia are the antithesis of what RATM stands for.
“Thus, your surprising attempt to associate yourself with RATM is wholly inappropriate and completely inexplicable, unless it’s part of some kind of bizarre cleansing ritual,” it continues. “Whatever the motivation, please stop. Stop using RATM’s name and logo, change the name of your podcast and find some other target to troll. We suggest President Trump.”
Farage is yet to publicly comment on the cease and desist.
